Assosa Branch Office

RRS – Assosa Branch Office, located in Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State in northwestern Ethiopia bordering with Sudan.

Currently RRS – Assosa Branch Office is hosting refugees in the region under the following three (3) Camps:

General information:

  • Coordinated under the RRS Assosa branch office,
  • Date of establishment:  08 June 2012,
  • Area coverage: 4.542 km2,

The camp is found in Benishangul Gumuz Regional State, Assosa Zone, Bambasi wereda, Womba kebele. It is located 646 km from Addis Ababa, 48.6 km from Assosa (the regional capital), and 10 km away from Bambasi town.

As of October 2022, the camp is hosting 20,016 refugees from Sudan (99.56%), South Sudan (0.15%), and others (0.29%). The number of host communities at woreda and kebele levels respectively is 54,694 (M: 30,720; F: 23,974) and 6,071 (M: 3,762; F: 2,309).

RRS, UNHCR, WFP, and 10 other national and international partners operate in the camp.

General information:

The camp is found in Benishangul Gumuz Regional State, Assosa Zone, Homosha wereda, Jima kebele, at a place called Kubur Arba. It is 709 km from Addis Ababa, 45 km from Assosa (the capital of both the region and the zone), and 8.8 km from Homosha town.

As of October 2022, the camp is hosting 753 asylum seekers and 12,202 refugees from Sudan, South Sudan, and the Great Lake Region of Africa (like Burundi, Congo, Rwanda, and Magnabulunge). The number of host communities at woreda and kebele levels respectively is 34,297 (M: 16,806; F: 17,491) and 1,561 (M: 766; F: 795).

The camp is working with UNHCR, WFP, and 10 other national and international partners.

The camp is found in Benishangul Gumuz Regional State, Assosa Zone, Homosha wereda, Dunga and Arumella kebele, at a place called Tsore. It is 695 km from Addis Ababa, 28 km from Assosa (the capital of both the region and the zone), and 10 km from Homosha town.

As of October 2022, the camp is hosting 94 asylum seekers and 43,081 refugees from Sudan, South Sudan, and others. The number of host communities at woreda and kebele levels respectively is 34,297 (M: 17,491; F: 16,806) and 6,801 (M: 3,332; F: 3,469).

The camp is working with UNHCR, WFP, and 11 other national and international partners.
