The Government of Ethiopia has officially launched the MAKATET (ማካተት) Roadmap on 18 June 2026, a landmark national framework aimed at advancing the socio-economic inclusion of refugees while strengthening opportunities and services for host communities. Unveiled during a high-level ceremony at the Adwa Memorial Museum, the Roadmap marks a significant shift from humanitarian assistance toward sustainable, government-led development solutions.

A high-level validation workshop for the Inclusion Roadmap, Ethiopia’s National Framework for the Socio-Economic Inclusion of Refugees, was convened today in Addis Ababa, bringing together key government institutions, development and humanitarian partners, donors, as well as representatives of refugees and host communities.
