General information:

• Date of establishment:  in 2007;
• Area coverage: 2.2 km2.

The camp is located in Afar Regional State, Awusi Rasu zone-1, Aysita wereda, kebele 01, at a place called Borawuli. It is 675 km from Addis Ababa, 75 km from Semera (the capital of the regional state), and 5 km from Aysita town (a town for both the zone and wereda).

As of October 2022, the camp is hosting 26,828 refugees all of whom are from Eritrea. The number of the host community at kebele and wereda levels respectively is 76,232 (M: 40, 411; F: 35, 821) and 54,797 (M: 30, 686; F: 24,111).
