GRF 2023 closes with over 2.2 billion USD in financial pledges to improve the lives of refugees and hosts worldwide.

Held every four years, the world’s largest gathering on refugees, has mobilized over 1,600 pledges and commitments.

The 2nd Global Refugee Forum, which gathered the international community, closed after three days with a range of pledges and contributions to improve the lives of refugees and communities that host them.

The Forum was attended by over 4,200 participants from 168 countries, including heads of state and government, ministers, heads of international organizations, refugee-led organizations, representatives of civil society and CEOs of companies and foundations, among others.

In the world’s largest gathering on refugees, the Government of Ethiopia has been represented by a robust delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen.

The delegation, comprising Ministers, State Ministers and RRS senior leadership, has effectively been engaged in a series of events alongside the main GRF.

Throughout the Forum, Ethiopia’s delegation showcased the nation’s substantial experience in hosting a large number of refugees and highlighted the support needed from donors, funders and the international community at large.

With its dedicated, dynamic and adaptable team, the people and Government of Ethiopia have won a remarkable representation on the global stage.

With the announcement of over 1,600 pledges, financial commitments totalling over 2.2 billion USD has been promised by governments, the private sector, philanthropies and foundations, faith-based organizations and others.
