A capacity-building training program for administration staff of Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), drawn from both the Head Office and Branch Offices, has officially commenced at the Adama Science and Technology University.

The program is designed to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance operational efficiency across the Service, encompassing a wide array of thematic areas, including the fundamentals of logistics and supply chain management and inventory control and warehouse administration.

Transportation and fleet management, procurement and strategic sourcing as well as practical approaches to addressing logistics challenges and solutions are also among the thematic areas.

In his keynote address, RRS Deputy Director General Yaekob Yala underscored the importance of the training, encouraging participants to approach the sessions with diligence and commitment.

Yaekob emphasized that the true measure of the program’s success would be reflected in improved efficiency, accountability and performance within the Service.

Deputy Director General Mulualem Desta also addressed the gathering, calling on staff to seize the opportunity not only to sharpen their technical skills but also to align their work with the recently launched Makatet Roadmap.

Mulualem stressed that the Roadmap represents a strategic vision for strengthening refugee protection and management in Ethiopia, and its successful implementation requires the active engagement of RRS.

Representing the Project Implementing Unit under the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Wondossen Yemane highlighted that such capacity-building programs are instrumental in ensuring effective resource utilization, sound property management and the adoption of modern administrative practices that support transparency and accountability.

The training has been organized by Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) with the support of the World Bank–funded Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP).

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening institutional resilience and advancing innovative solutions that enhance refugee response and service delivery.
