A delegation from the Afar Regional State visited Kebribeyah refugee operation in the Somali regional State to gain first-hand insight into the progress of sustainable human settlement construction for refugees.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to examine Kebribeyah’s evolving experience in refugee socio-economic inclusion and translate relevant spatial, socio-economic lessons into the Aysaita local context.
The ongoing housing construction in Kebribeyah demonstrates how committed Ethiopia is to implementing its 2023 pledge on sustainable human settlements by coordinating partners and relevant actors.
The visit highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure refugees receive protection and essential services while fostering the resilience and well-being of host communities.
This engagement plays a critical role in connecting decision-makers directly with the realities faced by displaced and host populations, as well as identifying practical opportunities to strengthen the humanitarian-development response.
Alongside the Afar delegation, the visit brought together representatives from regional and local government structures, refugee and host communities and partner organizations.
