Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), with the financial support of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, hosted an effective Community Dialogue Workshop @ Awbare town in the Somali Regional State.
Awbare has long been a testament to the shared culture between refugees and the local community, where the workshop has been tailored to build on existing ties by focusing on social cohesion, peaceful co-existence and the importance of socio-economic inclusion.
The session provided a vital platform for elders, women and youth leaders from both the camp and Awbare town to share perspectives and address shared challenges, such as resource management and livelihood opportunities.
While sharing their impressions on the event, representatives of the two communities asserted that such forums are ideal to further buttress the already robust relations refugees and host communities have been enjoying for years.
The event was concluded with a renewed sense of partnership, reinforcing the commitment of RRS, the Hilton Foundation and local leaders to work hand-in-glove to improve the lives of people of concern.
The same exercise will be conducted @ the Sheder and Kebribeyah refugee camps on 23 and 24 April 2026, where we’ll bring you the latest from the spot.
