Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) convened a high-level strategic discussion with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) aimed at furthering institutional collaboration in support of Ethiopia’s refugee response.

During the discussion, RRS Director General @TeybaHassen acknowledged the contribution of ERCS in delivering humanitarian assistance to refugees and vulnerable host communities.

ERCS’s extensive volunteer network, rapid response capacity and operational support in health, WASH, emergency relief, family reunification and community outreach continue to make a meaningful contribution to addressing the needs of refugee populations and surrounding communities across Ethiopia.

The discussion also focused on deepening the strategic partnership between RRS and ERCS to promote a coordinated, principled and effective intervention for refugees and host communities within the framework of the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus.

RRS underscored the importance of an alignment with national policies and operational frameworks, strengthened coordination mechanisms, joint targeting and beneficiary verification, enhanced data sharing and regular operational communication to improve planning and minimize duplication of efforts and resources.

Both institutions reiterated their shared commitment to advancing a structured, forward-looking and locally anchored partnership, recognizing that stronger national and local institutional collaboration is essential to addressing the growing humanitarian and resilience needs in Ethiopia.
