The IGAD Support Platform is currently underway at the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva with the gathering of distinguished delegates from Member States.
Ethiopia’s representation at this high-level event is nothing short of remarkable with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen, ambassadors and RRS Senior Leadership.
Opening the event, IGAD Secretary General Dr Workneh Gebeyehu lauded Member States’ commitment to pursue open door policies and durable solutions despite the magnitude of the displacement challenge, coupled with the declining funds for development and humanitarian assistance.
During his insightful remarks, Demeke emphasized the pressing need for enhanced cooperation and coordination in order to bring substantial change in the lives of refugees and hosts within the IGAD region.
RRS Director General Teyiba Hassen for her part reiterated the GoE’s unwavering commitment toward the IGAD Support Platform on Nairobi Process.
