A delegation comprising senior management from Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), representatives from UNHCR and the National ID Program are in a joint mission to the Malkadida refugee operation.
The delegation carried out a comprehensive review of ongoing activities, including civil registration, refugee revalidation and Fayda registration for both refugees and host communities.
The review further examined livelihood initiatives, with particular emphasis on IFC-supported projects, notably the SAHEL Climate-Smart Farm, alongside other key livelihood interventions.
The mission convened a coordination meeting with the Bokolmayo District Administration and conducted visits to various operational sites.
These included the ongoing refugee population verification exercise, Fayda registration for the host community, the VERA backlog process and the Bokolmayo 2MW solar mini-grid project.
In addition, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held with refugees who were not included in the 2020 registration exercise and whose records are currently inactive, where individual interviews were conducted to gain deeper insight into their circumstances and the challenges they face.
The delegation also met with representatives of IFC and SAHEL, during which presentations were delivered on activities implemented to date.
The joint mission may also head to Dollo District and Kobe, Heleweyn and Bur-Amino refugee camps.
