Today in the afternoon, Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) Director General Teyiba Hassen hosted the European Union Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sofie From-Emmesberger, at the RRS headquarters for discussions on strategic issues of mutual concern.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged comprehensive updates on the current situation in Gambella, with particular attention to ongoing refugee response efforts and emerging needs on the ground. Discussions also focused on the refugee registration process, including progress made and measures being undertaken to strengthen registration and documentation systems.
The meeting also assessed donors’ engagement with RRS and the outcomes of consultations held in Addis Ababa in December 2025, underscoring coordinated efforts to strengthen support for refugees and host communities.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration and partnership between RRS and the European Union, emphasizing their shared commitment to strengthening protection, service delivery, and sustainable solutions for refugees and host communities in Ethiopia.
