Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), in collaboration with UNICEF, is conducting a three-day training workshop in Adama city.
The workshop focused on current challenges in civil registration (CR) operations, the revision of existing reporting template in alignment with the new Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system and preparations for the upcoming family registration initiative.
In his opening remarks, RRS Deputy Director General Biruhtesfa Mulugeta emphasized the importance of the workshop in strengthening coordination and creating synergy among key stakeholders, including RRS, Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS), Central Statistics Service (CSS) and relevant institutions.
He noted that addressing existing operational challenges—particularly through the revision of the reporting template—will significantly improve the system’s capacity to capture comprehensive and disaggregated data.
Biruhtesfa also highlighted that the event serves as a critical platform to enhance institutional readiness for the implementation of family registration by increasing awareness, aligning systems and strengthening collaboration among stakeholders.
It’s believed that the workshop would contribute to fostering a shared understanding and a coordinated approach toward improving civil registration services.
