Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) welcomed a delegation from the Government of Canada to reinforce bilateral cooperation and discuss shared goals for sustainable solutions in the Ethiopia refugee response.
The delegation comprised Ms. Julia Guertin-Lacasse, Canada’s Migration Program Manager based in Nairobi and Mr. Gene Rudyk, Migration Program Manager in Canadian Embassy in Addis Ababa.
Up on arrival @ RRS, they were received by the Service’s Deputy Director General Biruhtesfa Mulugeta and their engagement began with a productive meeting, where RRS thanked the people and government of Canada for the steadfast support to refugees and host communities in Ethiopia.
The two sides also discussed how to strengthen durable solutions, registration assistance and modernize travel documents.
Right after the meeting, the delegation paid a visit to services rendered to refugees @ RRS Urban Branch Office in Addis Ababa.
The visit was concluded with a brief courtesy call to RRS Director General @TeybaHassen, reaffirming a long-term commitment to the strategic partnership Ethiopia and Canada have been enjoying over time.
