The Assosa Branch Office of Refugees and Returnees Service hosted a multi-donor mission.

A representative from Benishangul Gumuz State assured the mission of the government’s support and commitment to the refugee response.

The representative expressed readiness to provide land for the joint benefit of refugees and their gracious host communities with the support of the international community.

Representing RRS, Deputy Director General Mulualem Desta emphasized that relocating refugees from Kurmuk centre to Ura site is a priority.

Currently, UNHCR has secured funding to relocate 9,000 asylum seekers from Kurmuk and nearby kebeles whereas an additional 5.5 million USD is required to relocate 21,000 asylum seekers from Kurmuk woreda to Ura site.
