This afternoon, the Director General of Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), Teyiba Hassen paid a farewell bid to the outgoing Country Director of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Ethiopia, Joshua Alexander Eckley, and welcomed the incoming Country Director, Abdullahi Mohamed Ali.
DG Teyiba commended Mr. Eckley for his two years of leadership, which strengthened healthcare services and emergency responses in Gambella regional state, particularly for South Sudanese refugees and their gracious hosting communities.
She expressed confidence that Mr. Ali would scale up the leadership of his predecessor to further advance the delivery of quality healthcare services nationwide.
Teyiba also reaffirmed RRS’ commitment to strengthen partnership with MSF, underscoring priority areas of collaboration, including health facility rehabilitation, strengthen primary healthcare and WASH services and enhance emergency preparedness.
The outgoing Director Mr. Joshua Eckley thanked RRS for the strong partnership and the supportive leadership that enabled MSF to fulfill its mission.
He reaffirmed that MSF remains committed to expanding services for both refugees and host communities through the construction and upgrading of infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the new Country Director Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Ali expressed hope for further discussion regarding RRS’ interest in capacity building.
