The senior leadership of Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) had the honor of welcoming Mr. OIKE Atsuyuki, the Chairperson of UNHCR Executive Committee for an engaging dialogue on the refugee response in Ethiopia.
The discussion centered on shared priorities, with particular emphasis on enhancing leadership, strengthening coordination and improving the overall effectiveness of operations across Ethiopia.
Both sides reflected on the importance of inclusive approaches that would foster meaningful integration between refugees and host communities as lasting outcome results from expanding shared opportunities, promoting social cohesion and ensuring fair access to essential services and livelihood options.
Advancing durable solutions featured prominently in the conversation, with a focus on creating pathways that empower refugees to rebuild their lives with dignity while actively contributing to the socio-economic development of their host communities.
During the discussion, the Chairperson commended Ethiopia for its continued commitment to progressive refugee policies and its resolve to translate these commitments into tangible outcomes on the ground.
Reaffirming its commitment to deepen collaboration with UNHCR and its Executive Committee, RRS advocates to further strengthen protection efforts and advance a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable future for both refugees and host communities.
