Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), in collaboration with the Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS), is conducting a Training of Trainers (ToT) on “civil and family registration system for refugee” for staff drawn from all branch offices and the head office.

The training is aimed at strengthening the technical and operational capacity of RRS civil registrars to support the effective implementation of the updated Civil Registration System for Refugees.

Speaking at the opening session, RRS Deputy Director General Bruhtesfa Mulugeta emphasized that participants are expected to gain a clear understanding of the new proclamation, familiarize themselves with the revised working procedures, and contribute to ensuring the protection of refugees.

He further noted that the trainees are expected to transfer the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to staff within their respective areas of responsibility and lead the implementation process accordingly.

The initiative reflects the Government of Ethiopia’s continued commitment, through RRS, to strengthening the civil registration system and ensuring inclusive access for refugees in line with the amended civil registration proclamation, directives, and regulations.

The training is being conducted in Adama city with a financial support from UNICEF.
